Temperature Control Insights from ASMS

Posted by Ken Linehan

"You determine the time, let MéCour control the temperature"

That was our theme at this month's ASMS conference where attendees stopped by to talk about the temperature control challenges they were having with their laboratory applications. Ice cubes, dry ice and cooling baths continue to be a common temperature control solution, but we all know that isn't the optimal way to treat your expensive laboratory samples and ensure quality results.

Five Ways Thermal Blocks Outperform Thermal Electric Devices

Posted by Ken Linehan

We continuously receive requests from customers and prospects who have used thermal electric devices and achieved poor results from their applications. These common situations have prompted us to produce this blog post with five ways that precise, uniform, stable temperature control is the answer for the best sample quality and application results.

One Size Fits All vs. Plate Specific Thermal Inserts

Posted by Ken Linehan

We have been producing Thermal Inserts longer than anyone else, dating as far back as 1999 and demand-driven by our customers. It was simple - place any type of microplate on any type of thermal surface at any temperature, and you had a problem. There is an air gap on all plates that exists under the plate from the bottom of the wells or cap to skirt or perimeter of the plate's base. The problem is that air does not act as a very good thermal transfer medium.

New GERSTEL Temperature Control System & "Condensation Terminator"

Posted by Ken Linehan

MéCour-GERSTEL Thermal System, Part No. 80-60GL

Introducing the latest in our accurate and uniform temperature control systems: MéCour's thermal trays that can be configured to integrate with a GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sampler MPS WorkStation or sample preparation robot, independent of the chromatography system. Sample preparation steps are easily set up for maximum flexibility and ease-of-use without compromising sample integrity due to temperature instability. The thermal trays can be designed to accommodate any consumable plate, vial or tubes and provide a temperature range between -40˚C to +200˚C. You are able to conduct specific ramping cycles all within the same MéCour Thermal Block.

MéCour Thermal Block Systems and Circulator Set up for Novices

Posted by Ken Linehan

MéCour has been at it for 14+ years now. We've been listening to customers and their various needs for reliable and stable temperature control for their plates, tubes, media bottles, you name it. We provide the temperature to it. For automation or benchtop applications in Big Pharma, BioTech or local academic institutions or start-up companies, it’s all the same. It doesn’t matter if the required temp is 4°, 37°, -80° or +250°C. All the circulators connect to MéCour Thermal Blocks in the exact same manner. The system technically operates in the same manner as well. No matter what you call them

Thermal Control of More "Odd Duck" Applications

Posted by Ken Linehan

As the Fall LRIG vendor show approaches on 9/19/11 in Cambridge, MA once again at the Boston Marriott Cambridge, we look back at the past 8-9 years MéCour has participated in this interesting and ever changing one-day show. Notable changes have definitely been not only in scale-up in LH/HTS, but the endless and “never ceases to amaze me” applications the end-users require temperature control for but don’t know or simply can’t find a solution to assist them.

Cool Temperature Control: Keeping the Heat Out of Your Samples

Posted by Ken Linehan

Are your samples getting "cooked" and evaporated whether you like it or not? We've been asked a number of times this year alone to address the problems associated with external heat sources exhausting over or near their precious samples and either evaporating or contaminating them.
